Material Types for Aluminum Extrusion
Alloy 1100
Aluminum 1100 is the most common grade and highest mechanical strength in the 1000 series and consists of pure commercial aluminum (containing at least 99.0% aluminum). It has good electrical and thermal conductivity, making it suitable for heat sinks and heat exchange equipment.
Its excellent forming properties make it suitable for cold working processes such as stretching, bending, spinning, stamping and roll forming. Aluminum 1100 is suitable for use in a wide range of lightweight structures, especially where strength is not required, and it is highly corrosion-resistant, resisting oxidation in a wide range of environments.

Alloy 2024
The primary alloying element of Aluminum 2024 is copper, usually containing 4.4% to 5.0% copper, and small amounts of manganese, silicon, magnesium, and zinc, making it one of the most widely known high-strength aluminum alloys.
The 2000 series are heat-treatable aluminum grades that are high-performance, high-strength alloys. Aluminum 2024 also has good fracture resistance and low fracture crack extension, making it ideal for heavy-duty applications that are subjected to prolonged stress. As such, it is suitable for structural components in aircraft, aerospace and automotive applications.

Alloy 6061
Aluminum 6061 is the most versatile of the heat-treatable aluminum alloys, with excellent formability (using bending, deep-drawing, and stamping), good corrosion resistance, and the ability to be welded using any method, including electric arc welding.
The alloying elements of 6061 make it resistant to corrosion and stress cracking, and it is weldable and easy to form. Aluminum 6061 is used to produce all forms of aluminum structural shapes, including angles, beams, channels, I-beams, T-shapes, as well as radius and tapered corners. 6061 aluminum has excellent toughness, corrosion resistance, and weldability, making it well suited for automotive, marine, aerospace, and electronic components.

Alloy 6063
Aluminum 6063 has high tensile strength, good corrosion resistance and excellent finish qualities for aluminum profiles. It produces smooth surfaces when formed into complex shapes and has good weldability and excellent workability and is suitable for anodizing.
Alloy 6063 is heat treatable, cost-effective, has a finer grain than 6061 and has an excellent surface finish. Due to its extensive use in railings, door frames, window frames and roofing. Aluminum 6063 is also known as architectural aluminum. The use of alloy 6063 for aluminum extrusion makes it the clear choice for architectural aluminum trim and profiles.

Alloy 7075
Aluminum 7075 is a high-performance alloy with one of the highest strengths among aluminum grades. It is harder and has a higher tensile strength than Aluminum 6061. 7075 Aluminum alloy can reach a yield strength of over 500 MPa, much higher than many other aluminum alloys, and can withstand prolonged stress.
Aluminum 7075 is known as an aerospace alloy for its high strength and stress resistance. Also, because of its high strength, good mechanical properties, adaptability to heat treatment and extrusion molding capabilities, Aluminum 7075 has become the preferred material in the aluminum extrusion process and is widely used in aerospace, sports equipment and construction.

Instant & Accurate Quotes

We don't use online automated quotation tools, because it is very inaccurate. Online quote platforms rely solely on calculations based on cutting amounts and fixed coefficients, they fail to account for actual processing nuances, such as material deformation after heat treatment, tight tolerance requirements, grinding after heat treatment, etc. Consequently, automated price calculations can lead to inaccuracies, ultimately increasing your costs.
But you can rest assured at DEK!
Our quotations are both cost-effective and accurate because we have a team of professional mechanical engineers who meticulously review each drawing. What is Aluminum Extrusion?
Aluminum extrusion molding is placed in the die cavity (or extrusion cylinder) within the aluminum billet to exert strong pressure, forcing the aluminum billet to produce directional plastic deformation, extrusion from the extrusion die hole, so as to obtain the required cross-section shape, size and have certain mechanical properties of the parts or semi-finished plastic processing methods.
Known for their high strength, light weight and superb electrical conductivity, extrusions are an excellent choice for a variety of end-use applications. Examples include heat sinks, frames and housings. Because of the low unit price, they are most cost-effective for small and high volume production.
