Why Aluminum CNC Machining at DEK
Aluminum’s strength-to-weight ratio and corrosion resistance make it a default choice for structural, fluid-handling and enclosure work. DEK stocks four alloys that cover most of it, part of our broader metal machining services lineup.
The same line runs 6061 machining, 6063, 5083 and 5052, from a single prototype to recurring OEM production batches. Every job moves through an ISO 9001, AS9100D and ISO 13485 (via TUV) quality system with in-house CMM inspection.

Aluminum Grades We Machine
Four stocked alloys cover most structural, fluid-handling and enclosure work; higher-strength grades are sourced and checked on request.
-
6061
Best strength/machinability balanceGeneral-purpose and heat-treatable: the pick for structural brackets, housings and fixtures.
-
6063
Cleaner finish on thin wallsSofter and lower strength than 6061; suited to extrusion-style profiles, frames and trim.
-
5083
Best corrosion resistance of fourNon-heat-treatable with slightly gummier chips; chosen for marine and fluid-handling components.
-
5052
Resists saltwater corrosionGood formability and weldability, moderate strength: for sheet-formed brackets and fuel and oil lines.
-
7075 and 2024
Sourced on requestFatigue strength over corrosion resistance and weldability. Flag 7075 or 2024 at quoting so the alloy is sourced and checked.

How DEK Runs Aluminum Machining Services
Milling, turning, drilling and EDM run in one process route, from bar and plate stock to inspected parts ready to ship.
-
1
3, 4 & 5-Axis Milling
Brackets, housings and multi-face parts cut from bar and plate. Complex-geometry parts with thin walls and deep pockets run on the same equipment.
-
2
CNC & Swiss Turning
Shafts, bushings and threaded fittings run on lathes with live tooling; small pins and fittings run on Swiss lathes fed from bar stock.
-
3
Drilling, Tapping & EDM
Hole patterns run through CNC drilling centers, threaded ports are tapped on the same setup, and EDM reaches geometries milling can't.
-
4
Prototype to Production
Orders past prototype quantities shift to production machining cells, with IQC, IPQC, FAI, OQC, SPC and CAPA checks before shipping.
Aluminum Alloy Grades We Machine
Each grade page lists full specs and properties, from stocked 6061, 6063, 5083 and 5052 to sourced grades such as 2014, 2017A, 6082 and 7050.

MIC-6 is a cast aluminum plate made from a mix of metals. It offers high accuracy and easy machinability.Get Price
-
Aluminum 5052 is widely used in CNC machining because of its formability and corrosion resistance. It belongs to the 5xxx series of aluminum alloys and offers moderate strength.Get Price
-
Aluminum 2014 is a strong alloy widely used in aerospace. It's easily machinable in specific conditions and often formed into bars and profiles through extrusion.Get Price
-
6061Heat-treatable Al-Mg-Si alloy6061 aluminum machining is the most common job on DEK's floor: the alloy engineers default to for brackets, housings and fixtures. We machine 6061-T6 and stress-relieved 6061-T651 plate and bar to ±0.005 mm on request, with prototypes in 3–5 days and no MOQ.Get Price
-
5083Aluminum 5083 is a corrosion-resistant, high-strength, non-heat-treatable alloy commonly used in CNC machining. It is commonly used in marine applications due to its resistance to saltwater corrosion.Get Price
-
6082Aluminum 6082 is known for being highly resistant to corrosion and possessing exceptional strength, the highest among the 6000 series alloys.Get Price
-
7050Aluminum alloy 7050, commonly used in aerospace, is suitable for CNC machining but requires careful consideration. A stable CNC machine is important to minimize vibrations, and securing the workpiece prevents unintended movement during machining.Get Price
-
7075Zn-Mg-Cu alloy, T6 / T6517075 aluminum machining is what you specify when a part must carry structural load at aluminum weight: 7075-T6 reaches 503 MPa yield at 2.81 g/cm³. DEK machines T6 and T651 plate and bar to ±0.005 mm on request, with hard anodizing, AS9100D and no MOQ.Get Price
-
6063Aluminum 6063 is mainly composed of aluminum, magnesium, and silicon. Its excellent machinability makes it good for cutting, drilling, and shaping in CNC processes.Get Price
-
2024Aluminum 2024 is a widely used alloy known for its high strength-to-weight ratio and is popular in aerospace applications.Get Price
