Materials
Material Options for Laser Cutting
Metals
Aluminum
Aluminum has excellent high reflectivity, thermal conductivity, low melting point and light weight, making it the preferred laser cutting material for industries that value weight and durability. Ideal for the aerospace, automotive and electronics industries, common products include fuselage structural components, aircraft seats, aluminum body panels and electronic enclosures.
In terms of the choice of cutting method, aluminum is more suitable for cutting with nitrogen, so that the final cut section will be relatively smoother and the cutting effect will be better.
Brass
Brass is a copper-zinc alloy that not only has a golden luster, but also has excellent electrical conductivity, making it the material of choice for a wide range of components in the electronics industry, automotive parts and aerospace connectors.
Brass has good thermal conductivity, which reduces the heat-affected area when laser cutting and ensures the stability of the material, while its electrical conductivity ensures efficiency in electronic applications from connectors to sensors.
Copper
Copper has excellent electrical conductivity, corrosion resistance and malleability, making it an ideal material for the electronics, automotive and aerospace industries. We offer quality electronic components, automotive heat sinks and aerospace precision parts. Laser cutting allows for fine machining of copper parts to meet complex design requirements.
DEK offers laser-cut C110 copper, which is particularly suitable for electrical projects. In addition to maintaining the original color, we can also provide copper parts with surface treatments such as painting and spraying.
Galvanized Steel
Galvanized steel is widely used in the manufacture of automobile bodies due to its excellent corrosion resistance, and is also a common metal material used in the manufacture of home appliances, filing cabinets, and daily necessities, etc. Laser cutting is the most common process used to ensure the precision and quality of the products being formed. DEK's laser cutting is capable of handling complex patterns and designs, and is very popular in customized and low-volume production.
Mild Steel
Mild steel has a carbon content of approximately 0.05-0.25% and offers good workability, weldability, ductility and low tensile strength. It is an excellent choice for laser cutting structural shapes, brackets and general fabrication when high strength is not required.
DEK's popular grades A36 and 1008 are commonly used in the manufacture of body frames, automotive housings, supports and appliance housings.
Stainless Steel
Stainless steel has excellent corrosion resistance, high strength and hardness, beautiful surface, and is the material of choice for the food industry, construction, and appliances.Common products include food storage containers, door and window frames, decorative panels, appliance housings, and body frames.
304 stainless steel is one of the most widely used stainless steels due to its good properties, high toughness and high corrosion resistance. DEK has extensive experience in laser cutting 304 and 316 stainless steels to achieve very smooth edges and small radius cuts.

Instant & Accurate Quotes
We don't use online automated quotation tools, because it is very inaccurate. Online quote platforms rely solely on calculations based on cutting amounts and fixed coefficients, they fail to account for actual processing nuances, such as material deformation after heat treatment, tight tolerance requirements, grinding after heat treatment, etc. Consequently, automated price calculations can lead to inaccuracies, ultimately increasing your costs.
But you can rest assured at DEK!
Our quotations are both cost-effective and accurate because we have a team of professional mechanical engineers who meticulously review each drawing. These engineers boast over 10 years of experience and possess deep expertise in programming, machine operation, post-processing, material properties, and more. Know More About Laser Cutting
What is Laser Cutting?
Laser cutting is a manufacturing process that utilizes a powerful, focused laser beam to cut through the material. The laser is directed precisely along the desired cut path to melt, burn, or vaporize the material.
Industrial laser cutters use high-power lasers under computer numerical control (CNC) that follow programmed cutting patterns. Laser cutters can process metals, plastics, wood, glass, fabrics, rubber, and more.
The laser beam heats up and cuts through the material without mechanical blades or abrasion, enabling clean and accurate cuts. Tighter laser focusing and higher power levels allow cutting thicker pieces in more intensive production applications.
