introduction

CNC Routing Service for Custom Parts

Save on labor costs and increase output because, after the initial programming, CNC routers can run unattended, allowing for lights-out production.

For repeat cutting operations or batch production runs, DEK’s CNC routing is far faster than manual machining. Routing can quickly process high volumes of parts due to automation and unattended operation. Unlike other shops, DEK has continually invested in the latest multi-axis CNC routers.

These powerful machines, paired with DEK's professional programmers and operators, enable extremely intricate 2D cutting, complex 3D surfacing, and rapid hogging of thick stock with exceptional accuracy and repeatability. Additionally, DEK offers comprehensive secondary and tertiary services beyond routing alone. Customers benefit from in-house design refinement, machining fixtures creation, part inspection/verification, surface treatments, part assembly and even supply chain coordination. This end-to-end support simplifies the manufacturing process.

TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW

CNC Routing Insights

What is CNC Routing?

CNC routing is a computer-controlled manufacturing process that uses a spinning router bit to precisely cut and shape different materials like plastic, foam, and metal. The technique involves programming a computer with the custom shapes and designs you want to create. This program guides the spinning router across the material's surface, carving intricate and accurate patterns with extreme precision.

The material is securely placed on a vacuum table to prevent vibration or shifting during the routing sequence. A moving gantry then manipulates the router bit in the X, Y, and Z directions, allowing both 2D and 3D forms to be machined across the work material. Built-in dust collection helps keep the cutting operation clean.

CNC routing is an automated digital manufacturing technique that harnesses the precision of computer numeric control to cut and carve highly customizable, consistent parts for use in many industrial and commercial applications.
