FAQ

CNC Prototyping Machining Buying FAQs

After CNC machining, the mechanical properties of the resulting prototype are almost identical to the original material. After 3D printing, the properties of the prototype are similar to those of the original material. Another thing to consider is that 3D printed parts are often anisotropic due to the layered nature of the process. CNC process tolerances are tighter. CNC surface finish is better. If only tolerances and finish are considered, CNC is undoubtedly the best choice. However, considering the comprehensive factors such as cost, manpower and delivery time, 3D printing technology has a clear advantage
CNC machining can work with a wide variety of materials, including metals like aluminum, steel, brass, and titanium, as well as plastics like ABS, polycarbonate, nylon, and more. The choice of material often depends on the specific requirements of the prototype, such as strength, durability, thermal resistance, and cost.
We accept 3D CAD files in formats such as STEP, IGES, or STL. Some may also accept 2D drawings if necessary. It's important to ensure that your design files are complete and accurate to avoid any misunderstandings or errors in the machining process. Additionally, providing any specific requirements or notes on critical features can help ensure the final product meets your expectations.
Yes, we accept small batch orders. There is no minimum order quantity requirement for our orders. According to your order requirements, DEK can produce large-scale production or small batch production. Serving you well is our core purpose.
