introduction
Mild Steel 1045 in CNC Machining
Mild steel 1045 is a medium carbon steel with about 0.45% carbon content. It has good strength, toughness, and wear resistance.
It has excellent machinability and can be heat treated to enhance its hardness and strength. We use appropriate cutting tools, such as carbide inserts, for efficient machining. We optimize cutting speeds and feeds to prevent tool wear and achieve precise results. We lubricate and cool during machining to manage heat and extend tool life. 1045 typically provides a smooth surface finish, and it is weldable.
1045 carbon steel comes in various forms like sheet, bar, plate, hot rolled, annealed, and cold drawn types. In sheet form, it's thin and flat. Bars are less than 8 inches wide, cylindrical, and known for strength and wear resistance. Plates are over 8 inches wide and offer strength and machinability. Hot-rolled 1045 steel is ductile and tough. Annealing modifies the steel's structure and enhances machinability. Cold-drawn 1045 steel is known for its high strength.
