introduction

Inconel 625 in CNC Machining

inconel 625 part

Inconel 625 is a nickel-chromium based superalloy known for its excellent corrosion resistance and high temperature strength. Its chemical composition is precisely controlled so that it maintains consistent performance in extreme environments.

When machining Inconel 625, we always consider these important factors: machine capacity, rigidity, tool sharpness, tool type (carbide tools), cutting with constant feed and the use of lubricants, especially soluble oils for carbide tools.

It consists mainly of nickel, chromium and molybdenum and has high tensile strength, yield strength and high elongation. It can be stabilized in high-stress environments and is suitable for a variety of complex machining. In addition, Inconel 625 has good machining and welding properties.

TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW

Basic Knowledge of Inconel 625

What is Inconel 625?

Inconel 625 is a high-performance nickel-based alloy known for its high strength, excellent temperature resistance, and corrosion and oxidation resistance, making it suitable for a variety of applications, especially in challenging environments.

Inconel 625 has excellent tensile and fatigue properties in the temperature range from cryogenic to 950°C (up to 980°C), making it an ideal choice for high-temperature applications. The alloy has good resistance to pitting, cracks and corrosion cracks, and has extremely low corrosion rates in both marine and non-marine environments. It is resistant to seawater corrosion and has excellent corrosion resistance to various salt solutions. The alloy has a large resistance to high-temperature deformation and is suitable for processing below 1170 degrees.

FAQ

Machining Inconel 625 Buying FAQs

Inconel 625 is available in various forms, including sheet, plate, bar, wire, tube, and pipe.
Inconel 625 alloy is non-magnetic, which makes it very useful in some specific applications.
The strength of Inconel 625 is characterized by its high tensile strength of approximately 120-140 ksi (827-965 MPa) and yield strength of about 70-85 ksi (483-586 MPa) in the annealed condition. It also maintains significant mechanical strength at elevated temperatures, making it suitable for demanding applications in various industries.
Inconel 625 and Inconel 718 share many common properties. Like most nickel alloys, both alloys offer high strength, easy welding, and corrosion resistance. However, the different chemical compositions of the two alloys mean that they exhibit different levels of properties. While both alloys are heat resistant, alloy 718 has a wider melting range of 1321-1393°C. Likewise, while both exhibit good corrosion resistance, the higher levels of chromium and molybdenum make alloy 625 more corrosion resistant.
