Custom Zinc Parts dans le domaine de l'usinage CNC

Zinc is the world's fourth most consumed metal after iron, aluminum and copper. Zinc has a bluish-white surface, good ductility, low hardness and strong plasticity.

At DEK, we possess advanced equipment such as CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, laser cutting machines, and EDM machines, along with skilled machining techniques. We specialize in the precision machining of zinc parts. The high strength and hardness of zinc alloys make them ideal for machining, pressing, stamping, and assembling parts. Whether it's for prototype design or mass production, DEK always meets your diverse needs.

Additionally, at DEK, you can obtain high-quality surface treatments including electroplating, polishing, painting, and powder coating. With a tight tolerance of up to +/-0.005mm, our precision services ensure the provision of high-quality parts for industries such as machinery manufacturing, electronics, and household appliances. We are the ideal choice for connectors, fittings, valves, mechanical housings, and brackets. If you are looking for one-stop custom zinc parts services, contact us immediately!

What is Zinc?

Zinc is a metal in Group 12 of the periodic table, which is widely used commercially. In the Earth's crust, it's a bit more abundant than copper and occurs mainly as the mineral sphalerite. China, Australia, and Peru are the leading producers. Zinc's major uses include preventing corrosion by coating iron and steel (galvanizing) and making alloys like brass. Galvanizing can be done through hot dip or electrogalvanizing. The former involves dipping steel into molten zinc, while the latter uses electrolysis to deposit zinc on steel strips.

In the human body, zinc is essential, concentrated in red blood cells, playing a role in enzyme carbonic anhydrase and insulin storage. Zinc is also important in plant health. The metal is obtained by roasting zinc sulfide ores and then either leaching or smelting. Zinc is also a component in electric dry cell batteries, and alloys with aluminum have lower melting points and good mechanical properties. Zinc's appearance changes over time due to oxidation. It has different isotopes, with 64Zn being the most common.

FAQ

Machining Zinc FAQ sur l'achat

DEK's custom zinc alloy parts and prototypes are machined using a variety of different machining processes such as: CNC milling, CNC turning, wire EDM, sparking, drilling, tapping, and bracing.
DEK has many choices in surface treatment. The surface treatment of zinc alloy products can be: anodizing, powder coating, painting, electroplating, passivating, polishing, brushing, bead blasting, laser engraved, electrophoresis, and so on. No matter what kind of personalized design you have, we will be happy to provide you with customized service.
Zinc alloys have poor mechanical properties at high temperatures and poor corrosion resistance in aggressive acidic and alkaline media.
Yes, zinc can tarnish over time when exposed to air. This tarnishing process forms a thin layer of zinc oxide on the surface, which can give the metal a dull appearance. However, some surface treatments or coatings can be applied to reduce tarnishing.
Zinc is generally safe for jewelry but may not be as commonly used as precious metals like gold or silver. Some people may develop skin reactions to zinc, such as minor irritation or discoloration, particularly if they have sensitivities to certain metals. Using a protective coating on zinc jewelry is advisable to minimize skin contact.
Yes, zinc has antibacterial properties. It has antimicrobial activity and is often used in various applications, including coatings for surfaces with potential bacterial exposure. Zinc's antibacterial properties can help inhibit the growth of certain bacteria.
While zinc does have antibacterial properties, it is not an absolute barrier to all types of bacteria. The effectiveness of zinc in preventing bacterial growth can vary depending on the specific type of bacteria and environmental conditions. In some cases, certain bacteria may still survive on zinc surfaces, but their growth may be inhibited compared to other materials.
