Turbine blades often feature intricate aerofoil geometries, tight wall thickness, and are made from heat-resistant alloys like Inconel or titanium. These characteristics make them challenging to machine, especially when tight tolerances and surface integrity are critical

DEK applies multi-axis CNC strategies to maintain contour accuracy and profile tolerances. We also integrate heat treatment and finishing in-house to reduce distortion risk. Final inspection includes dynamic balance testing and CMM verification to ensure aerodynamic and mechanical performance.

5-Axis Contour Milling

We use 5-axis machining centers to handle complex freeform surfaces. Each toolpath is CAM-optimized to control scallop height and avoid overcutting on airfoil and shroud features.

Heat-Resistant Alloy Machining

Inconel and titanium alloys require controlled feeds, coated tools, and constant temperature. We apply rigid setups, through-spindle cooling, and low-RPM strategies to maintain edge quality.

Precision EDM for Root Features

For blade root forms like fir-tree or dovetail types, we use wire EDM to achieve ±0.005mm tolerances without introducing thermal distortion.

Surface Finishing & Mirror Polish

We achieve Ra < 0.4μm using fine abrasive flow or hand-polishing for critical flow zones. Surfaces are then passivated or coated as per spec.

Dynamic Balancing Inspection

We conduct dynamic balancing with a two-plane method for rotating assemblies. CMM, height gauges, and profile projectors assist in pre-checking the geometry.

CMM Inspection with Profile Control

We use CMM with rotary head probes to inspect blade profiles, twist angles, and fir-tree roots. All results are provided with full inspection reports.

Dynamic Balancing by Default

Each blade is dynamically balanced to ISO 1940-G1.0 standard. Unbalanced items are not released.
