What is PPSU?

Polyphenylsulfone (PPSF or PPSU) is a high-performance polymer consisting of aromatic rings connected by sulfone (SO2) groups. PPSU is a strong and versatile polymer that can withstand high impact, outperforming even high-performance polyetherimide (PEI).

It has a Heat Deflection Temperature of up to 196 ℃ and a transparent, amber-like appearance that allows for easy coloration, enhancing its design flexibility. PPSU's amorphous nature and lack of a melting point make it adaptable to various manufacturing processes. It can endure rigorous sterilization, withstanding over 1000 steam cycles at 134℃.

Additionally, its resistance to hydrolysis, hot water, and steam expands its usefulness in different industrial settings. Compared to thermoplastics like polypropylene (PP) and polyethersulfone (PES), PPSU stands out for its superior durability and heat tolerance. It is non-absorbent, preventing odors or colors from affecting it and contributing to its hygienic profile.
