Steering knuckles require precise control of multiple datums, high concentricity for bearing bores, and tolerance stack-up over large cast structures. Deep bores, interrupted cuts, and complex surfaces increase machining complexity.
DEK applies 5-axis CNC machining with custom fixtures to manage multi-directional tolerances. Tight fit diameters are finish-machined after heat treatment to control distortion.
All functional holes are validated using CMM and custom gauges. We combine heat treatment, coordinate-based machining, and real-time process control to ensure final part accuracy.

We use 5-axis CNC to reach angled surfaces and multi-directional features in one setup, minimizing tolerance stack-up. It’s critical for suspension link points and mounting flanges.

Key bearing bores are rough-machined pre-HT, then ground or finish-machined post-HT to stabilize H7 fits. It controls deformation from hardening.

We design dedicated fixtures to ensure all datums are held during multi-face operations. Coaxiality and perpendicularity are managed through rigid clamping and in-process verification.

Critical cylindrical features are inspected using roundness testers and CMM to validate ≤0.01mm variation, ensuring smooth bearing installation and rotation.
