PP homopolymer is the standard grade of Polypropylene (PP). It is a thermoplastic polymer with excellent chemical resistance and fatigue strength.
Compared to copolymer, it has a higher strength-to-weight ratio. PPH is ideal when you need resistance to impact, corrosion, and good weldability. Machining polypropylene can be more challenging due to its tendency to gall and melt. We use non-aromatic, water-soluble coolants to achieve ideal surface finishes and close tolerances, as well as extend the tool life. PPH is sensitive to temperature changes, exhibiting variable thermal expansion. To minimize the impact, we avoid pressurized air and spray mists.
Annealing Polypropylene is important because PP, like other polymers, tends to deform due to its low annealing temperature when subjected to heat and pressure during machining. At DEK, we minimize the risk of such deformities by employing an annealing process that significantly reduces stress caused by the heat generated during machining. Our machinists utilize computer-controlled annealing ovens to ensure precise and high-quality machining results.

In the case of PP homopolymer, the polymer chain consists of repeating units of propylene monomers. The term "homopolymer" indicates that the polymer is composed of only one type of monomer, as opposed to copolymers, which consist of two or more different monomers.
